Antoine Marès
Chair of Contemporary Central European History, University Paris I
Vice President of the Institut d’Études Slaves
A specialist in contemporary history and the Czech Republic, Antoine Marès taught history at the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO) from 1977 to 2003. From 2002 to 2007, he was President of the Institut d’Études Slaves in Paris and is now the Vice President. He is currently the chair of the Contemporary Central European History department at the University Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne. His areas of expertise include the political and cultural history of national identities and cultural exchanges between France and Central Europe.
