Christophe Jaffrelot
Senior Research Fellow, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique
Christophe Jaffrelot is Senior Research Fellow at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and was the Director of the Centre for International Studies and Research (CERI) from 2000 to 2008. He teaches South Asian politics to doctoral students at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and is the director of the quarterly journal Critique Internationale. His most recent publications are The Hindu Nationalist Movement and Indian Politics, 1925 to 1990s (1996), India’s Silent Revolution: The Rise of the Lower Castes in North India (2003) and Dr. Ambedkar and Untouchability: Analysing and Fighting Caste (2005). He has also edited, with T.B. Hansen, The BJP and the Compulsions of Politics in India (1998). Mr. Jaffrelot holds degrees from the University Paris I – Sorbonne and the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO), as well as a PhD in Political Science from Sciences Po.
