Marc Riboud
Photographer
Marc Riboud has been taking pictures since the age of 14, when he photographed the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris. His photography has taken him to the Middle East, India, China, the former USSR and Africa, where in the 1960s he covered the independences of Algeria and Sub-Saharan African countries. Between 1968 and 1969, as one of very few photographers allowed to enter Vietnam, he covered events in both the South and the North. Since the 1980s, Marc Riboud has returned periodically to the Middle East and his work has been exhibited all over the world, including Paris, London, New York, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Bilbao. He has published numerous books (Les Trois bannières de la Chine, Journal, Huang Shan, Les Montagnes célestes, etc.) and been awarded two Overseas Press Club awards, the Time-Life Achievement Award, the Lucie Award, and the ICP Infinity Award.
