Chairman of the InBev-Baillet Latour Fund, Philippe de Schoutheete is also Director of European Studies at the Royal Institute for International Affairs in Brussels and has taught at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). A former Belgian diplomat, he was Ambassador to Madrid, Director General of policy and, from 1987 to 1997, Belgium’s permanent representative to the European Union. He was also special advisor to Michel Barnier, member of the European Commission, with a focus on institutional questions. He is the author of numerous scientific works as well as The Case for Europe (2000), Une Europe pour Tous (1997) and La Coopération Politique Européenne (1986).
