Pierre-Éric Tixier

After training in law, Pierre-Eric Tixier studied sociology at Sciences Po. He began working on democracy in organizations, and did his first major research on the French union the CFDT (Confédération française démocratique du travail), which led to his doctoral thesis: “Mutation ou déclin du syndicalisme, le cas de la CFDT.” For nine years, he directed the GIP-MIS, a public-private research center aimed at fostering cooperation between sociological research and business sectors and enabling companies to benefit from research results. Today he is Professor at Sciences Po, where he heads the corporate management and policies graduate program. He is also a researcher at the school’s Centre de sociologie des organisations. He has worked with a number of companies on issues involving strategies of change and social relations.
