Rafael Ramirez

Rafael Ramirez holds a PhD in Social Systems Science from the Wharton School, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies (MES) from York University, where he was Project Director at its Action Learning Group, working with G. Morgan and E. Trist. He was then staff analyst at the Management and Behavioral Science Center of the Wharton School and associate fellow at the Centre de sociologie des organizations at the CNRS in Paris. He has collaborated with SMG, a Swedish-Finnish research and consulting firm, since 1985. As a consultant and/or management educator, Professor Ramirez has worked in 20 countries, with 30 corporations, 6 governmental organizations, one trade union federation and an association of industrialists. From 2000 to 2003, for instance, he was Visiting Professor of Scenarios & Corporate Strategy at Shell International. Author or co-author of numerous articles and books including Agent of Change: The New Industrial Divide, he also co-authored with G. Franck Les meilleures pratiques des multinationales, which made public the results of research carried out with the club perspective created by a group of large French corporations including EDF.
